In spite of the need for continued global collaboration in the fight against the Martian Horde, Vidalia never felt truly secure enough to trust their allies, least of all the Empire and the Federation, against the which she had fought many bloody wars before. So as the war progressed, the Vidalian Politburo felt that they needed to have a trump card ready on hand should the alien menace recede, and things return back to "normal" once more.
The LV-X Siege Tank is thus the result of research into whatever technologies and materials could be scraped out of any downed UFOs that the Workers' Armed Forces could annex for the greater glory of the Revolution. Clad in state of the art composite armour, it is the only vehicle in the game capable of resisting MAG fire, as well as conventional arms (the armour required to resist laser and plasma fire often is useless if faced with pre-invasion Earthling ordnance). In addition, the LV-X also comes with a powerful MAG gun that is second to none in calibre save the MAG Battery. This vehicle thus is not so much a tank as it is a mobile artillery platform meant for vehicle and artillery superiority. Only units armed with Alienum explosives, such as the Scimitar Light Tank or the X-44 Saracen could well prove to be more than a match provided they are able to survive an encounter with the LV-X's long ranged primary weapon.
